Loopy Things

These are the fingerless mittens and hat from the "Loopy Accessories" pattern in the fall issue of Interweave Knits. Instead of the yarns the pattern called for, I used a combination of Lion Brand Homespun yarn and Lion Brand Imagine. I may still try to make the scarf (although knit 1, purl 1 rib for a scarf is going to be dreadfully boring) if I have enough left over after finishing the afghan I'm also using this yarn in.

The set
The hat
You can see the loopy things on top, which is why they're called "Loopy Accessories". The hat took me about three hours, on 8mm needles. That includes sewing up and weaving in ends. Very quick!
The mittens
So why fingerless? Um. I don't know. I've just always wanted a pair... I do remember desperately wanting them while playing organ on a very chilly Christmas eve. I also remember wanting them while playing mellophone (a marching french horn) in a pep band in college during a blizzard with that wet snow that just melts right through your coat. I can't really think of where I'd need them now, but I'm sure they'll come in handy. No pun intended. :)
