flickr?

I’m playing around with flickr, because everyone else seems to be using it. I’m trying to decide if I really want yet another place that I’m storing images, or if I should just keep uploading things to my own server space. Anyone have any fabulous reasons for using it? It does seem neat, and I could theoretically change my header images to be a flickr banner and display recent images…which is what I’d always intended to do but never got around to writing code for.

One response to “flickr?”

  1. Flickr is great. Your family and friends can see pictures as soon as you’ve uploaded them, and they can download the original size JPG if you allow it (unlike shutterfly or ofoto which hides the original size photo, even from you). In that way, flickr also functions as a backup to your harddrive.
Flickr lets you set differnet levels of privacy, so you can share some pictures with the world, but keep others for friends and or family. You can mail order prints or have them sent to your closest Target. And it’s still in Beta – they are planning lots of new features for ’06.
But the best part about flickr is the community — there are so many fabulous photographers who inspire me to take more and better pictures.
