Something’s Missing!

I had this feeling, this morning, that Carolyn’s tooth that had started being very slightly wiggly an entire year ago might not be around too much longer – it had become very, very wiggly in the past few weeks. It even had an adult tooth coming up behind it already, because it was being so [...]

Raking Leaves

It’s pretty easy to get the girls on board with raking leaves when there’s a promise of jumping in the big pile at the end! And now the payoff:

Brownie the Bear

Carolyn recently joined Girl Scouts – as a second grader, she’s a Brownie. At her very first meeting, her name was drawn to bring Brownie the Bear home for a two-week visit. Brownie leaves to visit someone else’s house tonight, so we thought we’d take a couple of pictures so we could remember her!

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun and busy day today! I didn’t realize that the Primary school parade would be going on right as I arrived to deliver treats for the class party, so Anna and I wound up being able to watch all the kids in their fabulous costumes. Turns out there were two mummies in [...]

Costumes, Costumes Everywhere!

Anna wore her dog costume to library story time today: And both girls dressed up for dance class this afternoon. Since their “real” costumes were either too hot or not done yet, we went simple and cool! Carolyn was a cute black cat: And Anna was a ballerina bunny:

Seven Years Old!

Dear Carolyn, Today you are 7! It’s so hard to believe that – I know I say it every year, but I don’t have the slightest idea where the last year has gone… It being Monday, you went to school today. Of course! And Anna and I brought cupcakes later for you to share. You [...]

Bowling Birthday Party

Today we had a birthday party for Carolyn at a bowling alley. What fun! We only had to bring the birthday child and a cake. Or, in this case, cupcakes. I was heavily inspired by these twobowling cupcake projects. And honestly, this was probably the easiest birthday “cake” I’ve ever made. Cupcakes, piped swirls of [...]

Spelling Homework

This is our first experience with daily homework: spelling lists. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have pretty normal assignments. Thursday is a more open-ended assignment, where we have to, as a family, come up with a “creative” way to use & practice the words. We knew it would be tough, since we are so new at [...]

Pumpkin Picking

Halloween is just two weeks away, so we needed to get some pumpkins! We headed to a local farm market and parked in what must have been the last space available – everyone had the same idea for this drizzly Sunday morning. We checked out the pumpkins and walked through the tepees they had set [...]
