More Puppy Stuff

Bailey has an official clean bill of health from the vet. Which surprised me, since he has kind of a wheezy cough occasionally…the vet says it’s definitely not kennel cough, and that his lungs sound clear, so it might be a touch of post nasal drip. I didn’t know dogs could get that…

I’m still working on getting some good pictures of Molly and Bailey together – maybe tonight they’ll sit still long enough.

In other news, due to Bailey’s unfortunate attraction to shoes, we re-arranged the front hall closet to actually allow us to put our shoes in the closet. Coats, too! I wish I’d taken before and after pictures, since the difference is absolutely amazing. It’s the little things in life. :)

Puppy-ness

Whatever anybody says, 5 months old is still very much a puppy! As long as we can get past the expected sibling rivalry – mostly the fact that Molly is an attention hog and Bailey is turning out to be a toy hog – we ought to be just fine. The furniture, woodwork and shoes, however, had better be careful! One of Denis’ boots is now sporting a lovely new hole. :)

Bailey isn’t so happy with the crate solution, but for our own sanity and his safety (he tried to chew on one of our outlet covers!) we’re going to insist. Since he was picked up as a stray, it’s hard to know if his dislike of the crate is just normal separation anxiety or if he was punished with one in the past…

I haven’t tried to pull out the knitting yet – it could be interesting!

New Addition

As though there haven’t been enough changes in my life lately…

Please welcome Bailey, the newest addition to the Reilly household:

Bailey is a 5-month-old lab mix we adopted from Lollypop Farm today. He and Molly seem to be getting along just fine.

Nothing to Report

I’ve been so busy setting things up here, and getting used to the new routine, that I haven’t done anything exciting enough to blog about. :P

Must. Knit. Tonight…

(I’m wearing my knitted socks today! I’m going to have to make a few more pairs, since they’re so comfy.)

Sunny Day

I got to the gym again this morning! (How many days in a row do you have to do something before it becomes a habit?)

One of the really nice things about working here is that I’m not in a cube. I’m sitting next to a huge window with tons of lovely natural light. And it’s sunny today!

I haven’t knitted in days, and it’s driving me crazy. I have to get some knitting in tonight. I started the pacific northwest shawl, and I still have my sweater sleeves to finish.

Getting Started

I joined (well, re-joined) the local YMCA this morning. I even worked out for a bit! Since I don’t have to commute very far to work anymore, I’m thinking I can use my morning driving time to work out instead. Let’s see how long it lasts…

The new job is going pretty well so far, although I’ve really only managed to get my environment set up. It’s nice – I’m able to go home in the middle of the day to let Molly out. Molly thinks it’s nice too. ;)

I still miss everyone terribly, though. <sigh>

Last Time

This has been a week of “lasts”. And this is the last time I’ll be blogging from my cute little Apple G3 laptop, since it belongs to work, and it’s staying here when I leave in a little while. I’m not good with last things. Not good at all. I think maybe I wasn’t thinking clearly when I put make-up on this morning…

Hopefully, next week, a week of “firsts”, will make up for it all. :)

Socks!

I finished my first pair of socks…finally! I suppose if I hadn’t kept starting other things, they would have been done much sooner. They fit pretty well, although the tops are a bit loose. I guess I forgot to allow for the stretchiness of the wool… The only problem is, I wanted to wear them today. Now, my closet is full of green things – every shade of green you can think of – except any shade of green in the socks. Everything I tried clashed. I think I need to go clothes shopping. At least it’s close to St. Patrick’s Day, so there ought to be lots of green in the stores now. :)

Heat Wave

You know you’ve had enough of winter when:

The radio is playing as you’re trying to wake up, they mention the weather forecast, you hear “high near 40”, and you drift back off to sleep, dreaming about opening up the pool because it’s going to be 40. Maybe I dream in metric – let’s see, that’d be around 100°F…

As I recall, unlike last spring, in my dream the pool was crystal clear and warm when we opened it. :)

The reality is, there’s over a foot of snow on top of the pool cover, and it’s only going to be 40°F this weekend. I think I liked the dream better. Too bad Denis made me wake up to go to work!

My Bizarre Family

Last night we were at my parents’ house. My brother and my husband were sitting next to each other on the couch, each with a laptop on his lap. I was sitting on the loveseat, knitting. All of a sudden, I thought I smelled something burning, specifically, I thought the chili on the stove was burning. Innocently, I asked, “hey, do you guys smell something?” In unison, they each picked their laptop up, brought it to nose level, and sniffed. I laughed so hard I cried. I could barely find the breath to explain to my parents what was so funny. I need a video camera embedded in the frame of my glasses so I can capture stuff like this…
