Today is strange…it’s my last Monday here. I’ve started packing up my stuff – no small feat considering how much I’ve managed to collect over the past few years! I don’t know if this has really finished sinking in yet, and I’m a little worried about how I’m going to feel by Friday, but…it’s not like I’m leaving by choice… I’m kind of sad today. :(

Project Mania
I finished the back and front of my purple/pink sweater:

The sleeves are on the needles…and it’s taking all of my willpower to not start a new project. I have a ball of lovely green thread to make a shawl, and I just found another sweater pattern I’d like to order.
(Plus, I’m still working on sock number 2.)
Patience…
Darn it, the second Harry Potter DVD won’t be out until April 11th! Unfortunately, between the holidays and being sick and the musical I didn’t have time to see both that and Lord of the Rings. Of course, LOTR had to win out. ;) It’s actually still playing in one theater…maybe I can talk Denis into going this weekend. Or, maybe I should learn to be patient…
But I did buy “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” on DVD last night, because it’s such a fun movie. You know what I’ll be watching tonight!
(I shouldn’t be allowed out with my credit card on my own. I was supposed to be looking for Valentine’s and birthday gifts.)
Dogs, Dogs, Everywhere!
There’s no need for the TV anymore – the dogs are providing endless hours of amusement. Besides, you can’t hear the TV half the time – the two of them play this game where they’ll bark at each other for a while, chase each other, stop, bark, chase, stop, bark, chase…you get the idea.
Anyway, just so you can see the amusing size difference between them:

(Poor Oscar thought he was going to get to chew on Molly’s favorite bone. Never mind that it’s as big as he is!)
It’s also a little hard to knit when you have a dog in your lap. So, not much progress lately on my purple sweater. Let me get a few more rows done and I’ll post pictures.
Puppy Sitting!
This week we’re puppy sitting Jenny’s pug, Oscar. It’s quite amusing to watch a 10 lb. puppy interact with a 60 lb. dog. So far, the only conflicts we’ve seen have mainly involved the fact that Oscar is a lap-dog and Molly wishes she was. :)
This should at least alleviate my puppy-itis for a little while…
Monday Blahs.
The unfortunate part of spending a weekend out-of-town is that you get home and the house hasn’t managed to clean itself, the fridge hasn’t gone shopping, and the washer forgot to do the laundry…and you still have to go back to work.
But I did get some nice pictures of my nieces and nephew (Ofoto album, requires sign-in). And I got a huge amount of knitting done in the car on the way there and back – I’m already doing the armhole decreases on the front and back of the sweater.
Blogging from an Apple Store!
(Just to prove I’m a total geek!)
Blogging From NYC
The new twins are adorable – and I’m going to be Godmother to my nephew! How cool is that?!? I have to take some pictures today – I was too busy holding the little ones and playing with the older girls to bother digging out my camera yesterday.
I also got the yarn for one of my new projects Thursday night, and started work on it in the car on the way down – I’m halfway through the front and back of the sweater…I’m doing both at the same time since there’s a color change partway through and I wanted to make sure it was at the exact same place on both sides. In a little while I’m going to take a side trip to the gigantic yarn store that’s a few blocks from here to find some acrylic yarn for that Snuggles Project.
Tomorrow: blogging from the Apple store. :)
Ordering My Affairs
Let’s see, yesterday I learned all about IRAs, and fixed my direct deposit stuff, and in general spent way too much time at the bank. The investment guy probably thought I was a dumb girl based on how very little I know about my financial affairs. Really, it’s not that I can’t understand it – after all, I have a degree in math – it’s just that I can’t think of anything more dull or boring than worrying about money. I just want to know that I can keep food on the table (or in the takeout boxes, usually), add yarn to my stash, and buy toys for Molly. If 30+ years down the line I realize I picked the wrong fund for my IRA, and I don’t have enough money to retire, I’ll just go work at Michaels. ;)
Brrrr….
Today on my daily Golden Retriever calendar is the following quote:
“The most affectionate creature in the world is a wet dog.” — Ambrose Bierce
…followed closely, of course, by the second most affectionate creature in the world: a dog that has played in the snow and has cold, wet paws and a very cold nose! :)
