Knit-nerd

(That’s Tina’s name for me lately.) I am totally addicted to knitting at the moment. The mystery knitting project is in garter stitch – knit every row – which means it can be totally mindless. The past several evenings, I’ve been up until the wee hours of the morning, knitting and watching movies. Consequently, I’ve almost got the project done. I won’t be able to post more pics or anything about it until I’ve given it away though. (That’s the problem with most projects destined to be gifts – you can’t show them off!) Another consequence, though, is that I’m very tired.

Troubles…

I’m missing my archives, which apparently is causing some grief with Netscape on Windows. I’m taking them down for now. In the meantime, if there’s any other weirdness going on with this site, let me know. It’s my first attempt as CSS and other assorted little html tricks.

There’s a Relief!

I took the personality disorder test that Tina took. I scored low on everything. Not that I was paranoid about the results or anything… :)

I also am now the proud owner of my very own domain name and 200 MB of space to make it pretty. Yay!

Coming Soon to a Browser Near You…

I’m working on a total site redesign – including a new url. I have my domain name all picked out, I’m researching hosting services, and I have a design idea in mind – at least, about as much design as a software engineer could come up with. :) It should be ready in a week or so (guess what I’ll be doing over the long weekend?) I’m excited!

Happy Birthday

My blog turned one today! And I’ve actually managed to keep a journal for longer than all my attempts throughout my life all put together. :) There was going to be a design change for today, but instead I spent last night installing my closet organizer. (I did this all by myself, with the exception of the top shelf – Denis had to do that one.) Eventually I’ll get around to taking the St. Patrick’s day theme off. Really. I’m just being indecisive about what to replace it with. :P

Spring…or Summer…Cleaning

Since I was a bit busy this spring, I never got around to spring cleaning – even though I desperately needed and wanted to do it. So, I’ve been randomly hauling out closets when the urge strikes. This week, I’ve been working on the closet in my craft room. What a mess! Well, the whole room is, so it shouldn’t be surprising that opening the closet door is, um, dangerous. :) The problem is, the closet is above the stairs, so the floor is sloped – anything you put on the floor already has a high likelihood of falling out when the door gets opened. Add several layers to the stuff piled on the floor, and, well, you get the picture. I need to find a good storage solution for a closet with a sloped floor. I can add shelves and all, but I don’t just want to abandon the 6 cubic feet that would be below the bottom shelf. That might hold lots of yarn if I could just find baskets the right shape… Any ideas out there?

I am running unusually late

I am running unusually late today. I didn’t even wake up until 7, and we didn’t leave the house until after 8:30. That’s about the latest I’ve “slept in” for a very long time! But I’ll admit, I think I’m in a much better mood because of it. Plus, all the flowers around the house are very happy, since I took the time to water them thoroughly (it’s supposed to be 90 today!) Of course, I managed to get myself soaked with the leaky hose in the process.

I got my order from Keepsake Quilting yesterday! Yippee! The only thing that prevented me from starting my quilt last night was the lack of fusible web…and by the time I got to Jo-Ann’s they were already closed. :P Who ever heard of a store that closes at 9? I mean, the mall is open until 9:30 – shouldn’t the stores around it be open at least that late, too? Actually, I think craft stores should be open around-the-clock. There have been so many times I’ve been trying to finish something at the last minute, very late at night, and run out of thread, fabric, batting, paint, or some other crucial part of the project. Yes, I know it’s a surprise that I’m always trying to finish stuff at the last minute. :) Anyway, after I enjoy my pool for a while tonight (80-degree water!!!) I’m going to delve into this new stash of beautiful fabrics and start creating something wonderful.
