{"id":1682,"date":"2009-05-07T23:15:33","date_gmt":"2009-05-08T03:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2009-05-17T11:23:18","modified_gmt":"2009-05-17T15:23:18","slug":"kindergarten-screening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/2009\/05\/kindergarten-screening\/","title":{"rendered":"Kindergarten Screening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carrie had her kindergarten screening this morning.\u00a0 The teacher should have realized she had her hands full when she said something along the lines of &#8220;oh, goody, I get to test a four year old&#8221; and Carrie piped up with &#8220;actually, I&#8217;m four-and-a-half now!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I couldn&#8217;t see most of what was going on, but I could hear a lot of it.\u00a0 It was all I could do not to laugh out loud at some of the things coming out of my child&#8217;s mouth!<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the test:<\/p>\n<p>After Carrie correctly identified her heel, the teacher asked, &#8220;Who taught you all of these things?&#8221; and Carrie replied, &#8220;My imaginary friend!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At one point the teacher asked Carrie to hop on one foot, and then to walk in a straight line, heel to toe.\u00a0 Carrie said, &#8220;Oh!\u00a0 Like walking on a tightrope!\u00a0 I learned how to do that from JoJo&#8217;s Circus, and I know a whole song about it: &#8216;Balance, balance, use your balance, arms out wide and use your balance.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The teacher handed Carrie a book (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">My Little Cat<\/span>) and asked her to demonstrate how the teacher would read the book.\u00a0 So Carrie flipped it over so it was oriented correctly and read it front to back (it had all of maybe 20 unique words in it) and the teacher said, &#8220;Your imaginary friend taught you to read very well!&#8221;\u00a0 Carrie&#8217;s reply?\u00a0 &#8220;No, that was my mommy!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the screening was over, the teacher came back out to meet me and said that Carrie is so ready for school she should already be there.\u00a0 Tell me something I don&#8217;t know!\u00a0 I just hope she doesn&#8217;t wind up with a teacher who underestimates her because of her birthday&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carrie had her kindergarten screening this morning.\u00a0 The teacher should have realized she had her hands full when she said something along the lines of &#8220;oh, goody, I get to test a four year old&#8221; and Carrie piped up with<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1682","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-carolyn-growing-up"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1682","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1682"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1682\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1708,"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1682\/revisions\/1708"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1682"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1682"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1682"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
