When we mixed tropical punch and berry blue, we just got a weird speckly brown. It&#8217;s quite possibly the ugliest dyed egg ever, honestly.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3925\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3925\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120407_koolaid_eggs4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3925\" title=\"20120407_koolaid_eggs4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120407_koolaid_eggs4-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120407_koolaid_eggs4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sarahsthreads.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/20120407_koolaid_eggs4.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reddish + blue = brown???<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But other than the lack of purple, it was a pretty inexpensive and vibrant way to dye eggs, and I&#8217;d definitely do it again!<\/p>\n<p>Also, I tried baking the eggs instead of boiling them, which worked out better than I expected. \u00a0325\u00b0F for 30 minutes, then an ice cold bath. \u00a0There were a couple of brown spots under the shells after peeling, but they peel very easily. \u00a0They also crack very easily when being transferred to the ice water. \u00a0But 14 of the 18 survived the process intact, and the rest were yummy. \u00a0:)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re not a kool-aid drinking family, but I&#8217;ve been collecting various flavors\u00a0colors to use for homemade play-doh and (someday) yarn dyeing.
